IOT GreenMonitor

Introducing the ESP32 Green Monitor Webserver

The ESP32 Green Monitor Webserver is an open-source IoT project designed to provide remote control and automation for ESP32 devices using MicroPython and the MicroWebSrv2 library.

Key Features
  • ✅ Monitor and control GPIO ports via a web interface
  • ✅ Set automated timers for connected devices
  • ✅ Secure connections with SSL (HTTPS) support
  • ✅ Run on ESP32 with SPIRAM (due to memory requirements)

Perfect for home automation, smart agriculture, or industrial IoT applications, this project brings flexibility and accessibility to embedded systems.

Key Features & Showcase

1. Web-Based Device Control

Access the ESP32's GPIO pins from any browser, enabling:

  • Remote switching of lights, motors, or sensors
  • Real-time status updates
  • Timer-based automation (via devicetimer.json)

2. Secure & Lightweight

  • Built with MicroWebSrv2, optimized for low-memory devices.
  • Supports SSL encryption for secure remote access.

3. Cross-Platform Compatibility

  • Works on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Uses rshell + rsync for seamless file transfers.

Installation Guide

Prerequisites

Hardware:

  • ESP32 with SPIRAM (e.g., ESP32-WROVER).
  • USB cable for flashing.

Software:

  • rshell, esptool, and rsync (install via pip).
pip install rshell esptool
# Linux/macOS: Install rsync via package manager
# Windows: Use cwRsync

Step 1: Flash MicroPython

Erase the ESP32 and flash the latest MicroPython firmware:

esptool.py --port /dev/ttyUSB0 erase_flash
esptool.py --chip esp32 --port /dev/ttyUSB0 write_flash -z 0x1000 esp32-firmware.bin

(Replace /dev/ttyUSB0 with your ESP32's port.)

Step 2: Upload the Webserver

Sync files to the ESP32 using rshell:

rshell --buffer-size=30 -p /dev/ttyUSB0 -a -e nano
rsync . /pyboard

Step 3: Access the Webserver

  1. Connect the ESP32 to Wi-Fi (configure wifi_config.json).
  2. Open the ESP32's IP in a browser.

Customization & Usage

  • Edit devicetimer.json to configure automated tasks.
  • Modify www/ files to customize the web UI (HTML/CSS/JS).
  • Debug via REPL (Ctrl+D in rshell).

Why Use This Project?

  • Open-Source (Apache 2.0 License): Free to modify and distribute.
  • Low Power: Optimized for ESP32's limited resources.
  • Scalable: Extend with sensors (DHT22, relays, etc.).
