The Saga of the Electric Car Remote (and a Git Mishap!)
Hey everyone,
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster here in the lab (my living room, mostly!). I’m super excited to share a sneak peek of something I’ve been tinkering with: an electric car remote! You can see a glimpse of the wearable prototype in the image above – it’s designed to give a truly intuitive control experience.
The idea is simple: streamline the way we interact with personal electric vehicles. I’ve been experimenting with different input methods and wearable tech to make controlling something like an electric skateboard or even a small electric kart feel like an extension of your own body. The early tests have been promising, and I was really getting into the groove of refining the code and the hardware.
And then… well, then Git happened. In a moment of pure, unadulterated “What just happened?!” panic, I accidentally ran an unexpected
git clean -fxdcommand in the wrong directory. For those of you who know Git, you can probably feel my pain. For those who don’t, imagine your entire project folder suddenly vanishing into the digital ether. Poof! Gone.It was a gut punch, to say the least. All those hours of coding, debugging, and soldering seemingly evaporated. My heart sank faster than a lead balloon.
But fear not! All is not lost. Thankfully, I have a backup of the project files on another laptop. It’s not the absolute latest version, but it’s close enough that I can recover the vast majority of the work. I’m currently working on getting those files back and consolidated, and then it’ll be full steam ahead again!
Consider this a temporary pit stop, not a dead end. Once I’ve got everything back in order, I’ll be diving back into testing, refining, and getting this electric car remote ready for some serious rides. Expect more updates soon, including details on the components, the code, and how it all comes together.
Get ready to ride, because once I’m back on track, things are going to get interesting!
Stay tuned,
Rocca Gianluca
